Farmworker Ministry

Farm Worker's Ministry located in Auburndale, has been serving countless working poor throughout Polk County and beyond for over 20 years. Ministries include a food bank, legal services, health education and assistance, as well as special programs to stand with women and children who are victims of abuse and domestic violence. Lamb of God has been blessed to support Farm Worker's Ministry in many ways since the founding of our congregation.
Thank you to so many who have already made special gifts. Continuing gifts to supporst this opportunity should be made out to Lamb of God Lutheran Church and marked "Farm Worker's Ministry."

For Christmas 2007, our members graciously purchased presents for over 100 children. For many of these kids it may be the only present that they receive. We also picked up 35 turkeys and delivered them to Farm Worker's to distribute in time for Christmas day.

We used two vehicles to deliver all of the presents!

Stephen Ministry

What is Stephen Ministry?

The Stephen Ministry is a complete system for training and organizing lay people to provide one-on-one Christian care to hurting people in and around a congregation.

The Stephen Ministry provides congregations with the structure, training, and resources to set up and administer a complete system for lay caring ministry (called Stephen Ministry) in the congregation. In Stephen Ministry congregations, lay caregivers (Called Stephen Ministers) provide one-to-one Christian care to the bereaved, hospitalized, terminally ill, separated, divorced, unemployed, relocated, and others facing a crisis or life challenge. Stephen Ministry helps pastors and congregations provide quality caring ministry for as long as people need it.

In January 2007, Lamb of God consecrated 11 newly trained Stephen Ministers who completed 50 hours of specialized training. These new Stephen Ministers join 5 other Steven Ministers previously trained in other congregations. Together, these Stephen Ministers meet bi-monthy for continuing education and supervision.

To talk about making a referral through Lamb of God Stephen Ministry, to inquire about qualifying to become a Stephen Minister at Lamb of God, or for more information, you may contact Judy BishopJudy Davis,  or Judy Wise by email or contact the Church Office.

G.I.F.T. Groups

GIFT Groups are a wonderful opportunity for small groups of people to get together twice a month. The purpose of GIFT Groups is to uplift one another in prayer by utilizing God's Word. Groups are intended to be small - less than twelve (this allows all people to share). Groups tend to grow as is the goal of Gift and when this happens, new groups are formed. This "birthing" process can be painful for some but God promises rewards as we spread His Love!

Group time is spent between social time (snacks are optional, but nice), a short Bible reading, and questions that will help us to apply God's word in our lives. These groups have been spread out for your geographic convenience:

Poinciana - 1st and 3rd Thursday
Davenport - 2nd and 4th Wednesday
NE Winter Haven - 1st and 3rd Thursday
SE Winter Haven - TBA evenings

We encourage you to learn more about this wonderful ministry taking place in our church! Please see the Lamb of God bulletin board in the Fellowship Hall to sign up and gather more information.
